Xbox One Has a Twitter-like Followers System, New Gamerpics Revealed
Microsoft has revealed a few new bits and bobs about how profiles will be handled on Xbox One, including details on the new Twitter-like friends system and how Gamerpics will work.
According to platform architect Marc Whitten, the console will launch with a selection of 300 different Gamerpics, all of which are 1080p. You can see some examples below, courtesy of IGN.
Speaking as a part of a ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ session, Whitten explained that the Gamerpics act as wallpaper for your profile, which also shows your Gamerscore, how long you’ve been a member of Xbox Live, your reputation and your Follower and Following stats.
What’s that? Well it’s a new system that borrows Twitter’s set-up. A report on Destructoid explains that while the friends limit has been raised from 100 to 1,000 on Xbox One, there’s also a new system that allows you to have unlimited “followers.”
By following someone you can see their gaming activity as it happens, while also picking favourites that prioritise the activities of your friends in your feed.
Pretty cool, right?
