Sky Go won't be free on Xbox 360 from 29th July
Your days of using Sky Go for free on Xbox 360 are over, maggot. From 29th July, existing users will have to upgrade to Sky Go Extra, which means committing to a monthly fee.
According to a report on CVG, "various introductory offers" will be available for existing users. One such offer consists of an introductory rate of £2.50 per month for six months and £5 a month thereafter. If you're a new user, you'll have to pay £5 a month from the get-go.
According to a Sky representative, "Sky Go and Sky Go Extra mean our customers can watch their favourite Sky content on a broad range of devices, wherever they are. We will be making some changes to the way in which console users access Sky Go, and we will be writing to any customers who this affects over the coming weeks to update them."
Sky Go Extra customers are able to stream video on four devices, and may also download content for offline viewing. For Multiscreen (previously known as Multiroom) customers, this is already with the subscription.
All this follows Microsoft's decision to drop Xbox Gold charges for a number of entertainment apps, including Hulu and Netflix. I suspect the Sky Go thing won't go down quite as well, but then again I am not you.
Will you continue with Sky Go? It's coming to Xbox One this summer.
