What the hell is "Nerkas" anyway? AllGamesBeta looks to have been peeking around Los Angeles, particularly around the Staples Center and convention center area, where all the E3 madness is set to go down in about a week. There, in front of the Staples Center, on one of those huge screens, a trailer I've never seen before played. AllGames got it all on tape YouTube.
It's a strange game trailer with normal civilians and armed people and things that look like Bluetooth headsets but have some kind of mind control or altering power. It looks like a third-person shooter where civilians are doing the ass kicking. Weird.
At the end of the trailer is the name "Nerkas." Check out the Who.Is for Nerkas: It's Square Enix Europe. Is this Nerkas a Square Enix game?
Again, what the hell is a Nerkas?

Microsoft Preparing to Possibly Rebrand the Xbox 360: Xbox 360+ ?
A little over a year ago, we were the first to break the news of a new Xbox 360 code name called ‘Xbox 360+’ scheduled for release with Natal. Now it seems the Xbox 360 is not the only thing that will get re-branded.

In case you missed the article about the 'Xbox 360+' from June 2009, you can check it out here.
For a quick run down there was one very unique comment made form our leak: “X360+ as MS said already will be re-launch. Re-launch not because they added motion support but to cut from famous RRODs, E74 etc. They are planning to do it like sony did with PSP - you know PSP-3000 AND PSPgo - similar possibilities yet 2 different SKUs.”
Now it seems that may become a reality as two box arts for upcoming games, Kane and Lunch 2: Dog Days and Deus Ex: Human Revolution have been spotted sporting a new header design. Take a look below:

"Telltale Games has always set out to be a great storytelling company. We've been honing our chops over the past six years, and we're ready to take on these two iconic properties and continue to advance storytelling in games," Telltale CEO Dan Connors explained.
Both sets of games should start to hit this winter on Mac, PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360, and should tell new stories within the existing universes.

Double Fine boss Tim Schafer has just told the crowd at his Develop keynote that he’s got a bunch of projects on the horizon.
Schafer said the company has four games in the works, all of which have publishers.
Schafer said that the games were signed within “months” of showing them to publishers.
Answering a question on the matter after his speech, Schafer said some of the games were downloadable and some were for traditional retail.
The company lead said that splitting into a multi-project developer had resulted in “growing pains,” but that betting on the right people was the way forward for the firm.
Nathan Marks, one of the Brutal Legend team, is heading up one of the games, while Tasha Harris – previously of Pixar and also a member of the Brutal Legend crew – is leading another. Brutal Legend art director Lee Petty was the third lead mentioned.
Schafer said that focusing on smaller projects had allowed the company to become more flexible.
No dates or details were given for any of the games.
Schafer has just finished his Brighton keynote, after yesterday calling Bobby Kotick a “total prick”. He’s been having a good week, clearly.
Au ja! "It´s about fu***ing time!"
Wenns wirklich nen Brütal Legend 2 wird fang ich richtig an zu feiern. Aber wenn dann bitte weniger Strategie einlagen!!!

It looks like Microsoft may have revealed something big at its annual MGX (Microsoft Global Exchange) event, namely... new logos for its main brands and a fresh brand motto. "Be What's Next" touts a teaser which has been posted on YouTube, along with a fast moving sequence of morphing logos, shuffling from Windows, to Windows Phone, Xbox, Bing, and finally the familiar Office logo that's been kicking around for a little longer. It's unclear if these are just treatments used for a promo at the event, or if this is a signal that Redmond is dumping its familiar (and frankly dated) iconography for something a little looser, leaner, and hipper, but we can't say it would be a bad thing. It would certainly make sense against a backdrop of potential comeback in the mobile space, gains in search, and the seemingly successful (or at least satisfying) Windows 7 launch. One thing is for sure, MGX is a corporate, non-public opportunity for the Microsoft faithful to cheer the brand (Ballmer received a 30 year commemoration at MGX 2010), so this would definitely be the place to unfurl some new branding. Check the video after the break to see the new style, and hit the gallery below for a bigger look.
Update: So... the YouTube video has been pulled. Fear not, we've got our own copy!
Update 2: We've just been contacted by Microsoft and told that these are not new logos which will be used on products, rather a standalone treatment to show the flexibility of joined brands. However, the "Be What's Next" tagline is real, and will be showing up here and there.
